I've always had appetite issues, so eating enough and maintaining my weight was always difficult. For several years I just kept losing and losing, finally when I went in for a tune up and was down to 93 lbs (I'm 5'3") I decided I'd had enough. It was the BEST decision ever! 4 years later I'm at around 125 lbs (maybe even a little more!), and though I still have trouble eating properly it takes so much pressure off me to knowI have the tube to rely on. My lung function has also improved along with my nutrition.
I got a PEG, because I have a very strong gag reflex and didn't think I could handle a nasal tube; at first I regretted it because the recovery was horribly painful, once it healed though I was SO glad because it's really pretty easy to take care of. I got a button, it's little and not even noticable as long as I'm not wearing anything too tight around my belly, and mine healed up beauftifully so I rarely have any irritation around the site. Most of the time I don't even notice it... though I've developed a bad habit of playing with it when I'm not paying attention. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">
