Feeding tubes

I know I should not have found that second belly button thing funny...but...<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>It's really a personal choice for when you start feeds, unless of course your weight is declining out of control</end quote></div> That's the thing, I think it is going out of control. I must admit I do feel iffy all the time and don't really want to eat much, but I do eat quite alot I think - I'm just not gaining the weight.

I would be interested to hear bothe the positive and negative side of both types of feeding tube because if NG feeds did work I would probably need to consider something more permanent maybe? I had NG years ago when unwell in hospital but I've never done it at home or managed the tube - and it kind of freaks me out a bit!

Thanks for your reply fr3ak and I'll definitely bear it in mind.

Oh and thanks to whoever managed to move the thread. I did think of cvopying and pasting but then thought having 2 threads the same might be more annoying for some people.

The bonus of NG feeds is you put the tube down of a night and then by morning you get to pull it out...No permanent fixtures!

The first few times putting the tube down is rough, with gag reflex etc but the more you do it the easier it is...(I did NG feeds for roughly 4 years)

My main problem I had with NG feeding (in particular when I was end stage was the coughing as well as being on oxygen) I was a huge cougher so I would continuously spew the tube up, having it down my nose and out my mouth lol

You can always do the NG feeds until your weight picks up and then back off the feeds again... using them as a back up etc

5ft 6 and 126.5 pounds - normally I'm more like 140 to 145 pounds but I just don't seem to be able to get to that any more. I'm concerned about my weight more because I wonder if its what is making me feel so tired all the time...dunno
