Hi,

Bye the way Sakasuka I am 35 years old and I have seen many friends die of this disease so I know lung function can drop and not come back how do you think I got to 44%.

My fev1 was at 45% roughly for 4-5 years and I got it up to 75% from switching to a more agressive doctor, who added Zithromax to my regimen, taught me proper chest pt, and myself doing exercise and numerous health/natural supplements.
Many people can come back from poor pfts. Sometimes you will have a bad episode where alot of treatment doesn't seem to help. Take it one day at a time.
And sakasuka's comment was ridiculous-don't listen to it b/c it won't help you, unless you'd prefer to 'give up', lay back and die. If thats what you'd like to do, then sorry, that advice was helpful to you.

It may not have been useful "advice," but she was correct and it was information worth having. Sometimes lung function doesn't return. And there's nothing wrong with finding a point where fighting is no longer worth it, and going home to relax until it's over (though I doubt the original poster is at this place yet). I hate that attitude. There is a place where it makes sense to stop fighting, and just enjoy the time you have left. And it does NOT mean you've given up, or you're negative, or you're a loser. Not not not. People really need to understand that.

OK people!-Busbie said this has been going on 5 WEEKS. Not 5 months, or even a year. So to talk about a person in <i>this case</i> gracefully giving up and stopping the fight is ridiculous. To turn this into a death talk when someone has only been sick for 5 weeks is ridiculous, not to mention it accomplishes nothing for a patient who came here, trying to find answers. That is my point. I'm not saying that there aren't cases where what you said above isn't the absolute truth Emily-but this doesn't apply to this thread at all.
