very nice post!

I feel better than I have in a long long time and I attribute it to having been working out consistently since february. I too am one that will do it one for a month off for a couple weeks etc or I will do 2 horus one day then I am too sore to do it again for a few days etc. I only do about 30-45 minutes a day but it is consistently at least 4 days a week plus I try to do walks or garden on weekends and it has REALLY helped and I too owe it to the inspiration I got form this site along with allergy testing and a whole other slew of good ideas.

THIS SITE ROCKS CF FOR SURE!

Yes, Caitlin got a gym membership for both of us. She thinks it's for her, but really it's for both. When i send her that new leg in the mail, it will be better.

No honestly, i'm lazy too. However, i will not lie, i HAVE been working out (as well as someone with an FEV 1 between 30-40% can) i walk the dogs with my dad. I take my time but i DO feel better after i do it. Exhausted, but it gets done. I hate exercising on my own. I went for one by myself on sunday, i made it to the corner, turned around, and came home.

My toes were cold and it was windy. What can i say?

Good luck and i'm glad to hear that ur function went up! It may only be 62% but you be proud of it and keep up the great work!

I just started a low-impact yoga program, 20 minutes twice a day. Plus, once I get my huber out, I'm going to take up swimming laps. I also bought a stationary mini-cycle that I can use while I do my treatments. It seems that exercise is certainly key. And that low FEV1's are quite the motivator!

For those of you that really dislike exercise, an idea would be to play social team sport. You don't have to be good at all, it works lots of different parts of your body, and being in a team provides the motivation that individual stuff often doesn't provide.

In school, I played sports a lot. When I went to university, I stopped playing. My FEV1 in high school was usually at least 110%, and after three years at uni it was 94%. Since I've started playing again, my FEV1 has been a stable 94% for the past 2 years. It could just be a coincidence, but it might not be!

We are going to take to a personal trainer about working with Cory. He also hates exercise. His pft's have been a decline and he is without too many choices.
We talked to a very good personal trainer about the benefits of exercise and cystic fibrosis. They are motivated to work with us and are hopefull that Cory can see a 15% increase in his lung functions. His current lung functions have dropped into the 30's.

Hey Adrienne

ROCK ON!!!
That is great news, I am 50 with CF and my FEV's are around 39-40 and I "keep on trucking"

REMEMBER... even if your FEV's do not increase it is good that they are stable - you need to preserve your lungs as long as possible. Exercise will help keep you lungs "clear and strong"
