I know exactly how you feel about so many people around getting pregnant and having babies! One of the girls at work is pregnant and every time she starts talking about it I want to slap her! Brian and I were planning on trying to get preggers soon and then he had to go and try to commit suicide and put my entire life on hold. So while at this point I can't relate to the mucus problem, I know how it feels to want it so bad and not have it!

I know how you feel- I was in almost the exact same boat as you, and rode it for 9 years before we went to the infertility dr. for 2 years. I am so sorry! It is...overwhelming sometimes. The IUI wasn't a big deal, compared to other, more complicated treatments. I did end up having to do shots, too, but my DH gave them to me- bonding experience- lol- I know he was wondering about just how much confidence I had in him when I came home from the doctor's with a big permanent marker circle on my butt where he was supposed to give me the shot! LOL! If you decide to go that route, don't forget to pack your sense of humor . You will probably want to have your DH retested, if it has been a couple of years, just to rule it out . Sperm count can vary due to lots of things. I hope things work out well and soon for you

I had the same problem as you did, I am 38 yrs. old and my son is 16. They went directly to artificial insemination and bang first try I got pregnant. Our Mucus is so thick and some have it worse than others, as I did. I do not know why your Doctor as not recommended this. Also, I heard another secret, before having sex douche'. I know 2 people , one with CF and the other with not and they both ended up pregnant. I wish you luck and keep trying. Also, my insemination was covered by insurance which it usually is not but my Doctor noted the reason I could not get pregnant was becasue of my CF. Of course that was 16 1/2 yrs. ago.

Princess,

Yes, my GYN doctor has suggested artificial insemination. See, my husband and I both are hesitant to seek fertility specialist advice. We are thinking more adoption vs. medical assistance in regards to having children.

My GYN said that we should see a fertility doc because she is positive it has to do with my CM. I'm sure she's right since everything else on my end and his seem to be alright. We just aren't sure yet which way to turn. If I seemed somewhat confused about what I want to do, that is true. I'm not sure. My husband favors adoption over fertility medicine 100%. I am 70% adoption/ 30% fertility medicine. He would agree to fertility medicine if that was what I really wanted to do, but like I said really favors adoption. So we have a lot of thinking ahead of us.

Hey, you mentioned douching before sex. Isn't that bad for you because it changes the acidity or base properties of your cervix? I thought that was a bad thing to do? Please enlighten me further on why that is good. I understand that it would flush out the mucus - but how can it not mess things up? Thank you for that information!!!

We intend to try for a few more months then turn to either adoption (which is more likely) or fertility medicine. Like I said, my in-laws will be living with us for 1-2 months on their visitor visa before going back to Uruguay. Plus, he just got his huge promotion so I don't want to overwhelm things right now.

You know - When I told him of the results in regards to my abnormal CM he said, "Well, we both knew that". He wasn't surprised. He felt so bad and hugged me the rest of the night. He was so good about it. He wants to have children together, but foremost, wants me to be happy and healthy. He has never pushed about having kids, honestly. I've done much more pushing than him. That's probably a good thing.

But please enlighten me about the douching. I will try that the next few months and give it a try. I will ovulate again in slightly under 2 weeks. You can PM me if you choose to keep it more personal. That's fine. Thank you for your response! I don't remember getting that one yet!!!
