I just started Cayston yesterday. So far so good. I got the impression from my clinic that Cayston is being prescribed every other month just like TObi- so Tobi one month, Cayston the other.
I think the Altera seems pretty durable just as long as your little one doesn't try to open it. There is a piece inside that seems to be the $$$$$ piece and I would hate to see it get ruined. It literally takes 2 minutes to neb the cayston so you could just sit and watch your child and then take it away as soon as it is done. In my paperwork from the pharmacy, it said that the Altera is $1600 and if I were to break it or lose it I would be responsible for paying the cost (it is "loaned" with the script for cayston from the drug company). Just food for thought.
I am trying to acquire the Trio (other eflow) and they will have to compound the tobra but said I could use hypertonic saline in it. I don't use other inhaled drugs so I don't know. Try calling Foundation Care and asking.
