Hi Jana! First of all, I'm sorry for what you're going through, and I'll pray for you and your son and family.

But about the hospital..it's a shame it's so far away, but there is help out there. Fortunatly, when i was in the hospital, my family only lived about 45 minutes away, not too bad, but still a pain in the snowy weather. I can't imagine 2 hours, but I know that at our hospital, they had a hotel very near to the hospital that you get could stay in for a very low price, or even none, if you lived far away and would be there for an extended amount of time. I would definitely check into that.
And there should be help as far as insurance, there definitely will be. There is an insurance here that payed for everything that had to do with my cf and hospital stay. Also, I don't klnow if this applies or anything, just a suggestion, but if you have a job and will be gone for a while, you can be eligible for the family medical leave act, which means that your job cannot fire you for being gone due to your son's hospital visits.

best of wishes to your family!
