I'm so sorry. It's got to be tough. :-( We're kind of on the edge of possibly the first sign of lung involvement. My baby had a common head cold 2 months ago that we got through without it going to his lungs, but now he is culturing H. Flu nasally and has a runny nose. I know H. Flu can be a precursor to bacterial infection,so we're kind of scared.

Don't be scared. My daughter went through numerous colds, sore throats etc without it turning into bronchitis or pneumonia. she does culture Staph so she was often put on antibiotic to be on the safe side.

Just as a side note, when she first culture PA at about 16 months, I am not even sure it was cold triggered.

Jen, DS cultured PA when he was 3 months old with no symptoms. He began culturing H. Flu after that when we noticed he had more sinus issues -- couple sinus infections, colds, ear infections... Sometimes no symptoms -- we'd go to clinic thinking this time it'll be clear and the H. Flu would appear.

When DS was 2 1/2 he was put on zithromax once a day --- it's used not as an abx with cf, but for inflammation. His doctor told us at the time that it'd most likely get rid of the H. Flu, which it did.

Thanks to everyone for all your replies. It really helps to have people who are going through the same things. THe TOBI was not working on it's own so we added Cipro. Already see an improvement.
