Medical stuff is exempt from most of the carry on regulations. You can bring on as big a bag as you need, and the liquid rules don't apply. Make sure it'll fit in an overhead bin though. Some airlines will put it in the closet/storage space, but don't count on it.
I have a rollie that fits all my med stuff, and then I have another bag for normal stuff.
Carry everything you need on. I don't trust them with anything I really need.
Get a doctors note for everything- especially the vest. They don't see vests very often and tend to freak out. If your meds are in the original bottles, it shouldn't be a problem, but i got my doctor to write it on the note anyway.
I don't send any of my stuff through the x-ray. It would probably be okay, but i'd rather not risk it. You can ask them to hand inspect it.
