The level of overpopulation of yeast you describe would probably not be treatable with just throwing some diflucan at it.</end quote></div>

Yes, I do realize this. I was just being sarcastic from frustration. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

She wants to try the ampho nebs for 30 days to see if there is a change, then perhaps go to an oral. She worked with ID on this, so at least she realized it is not her area. I put a call in to ID to get an appointment for next week.

We talked today about looking into other sources of the fungus (sinus maybe) and meeting with ID to go over the tests. Josh was pretty assertive and asked some good questions, but we did not get a copy of the lab results yet.

We are still frustrated, but at least we feel like she's taking it seriously now. And he began the ampho today. We'll see how that goes.

BTW- Jesse's beta d glucan came back 130. She scraped his tongue to check for candida. Looks like no more sugar and green smoothies all around!

Jane, Do you use mychildrens.org? Any test done out patient
you can get the results by logging in. I found out about
6 months ago that Children's had this. Some labs are sent to Utah so they take longer to show up but you can get alot
of info from this site.

I was thinking about your situation and the doctors plan. Here is what I am thinking.

A-even if they cant find fungus in the lungs doesnt mean he doesnt have it whether its aspergillus or candida.

B-even if there REALLY yeast then his lungs can still be reacting to mold in the environment primarily aspergillus as my discussion with Dr. Moss revolved around this alot.

So, now for the ampho treatment. If you treat just the lungs and the numbers come down and he improves than it may show that the fungal problem is isolated to his lungs.

The fact they are consulting with ID makes me very happy.

They probably wanted to try this while they figured alot other things out and consulted more. This first step allows them to gain another piece info lungs vs systemic and get started more quickly.

I am sure it is VERY frustrating but if you look at it from the above angle it actually might be a pretty smart move. Now the conversation you said she relayed to you doenst sound real intelligent but.......the plan may be.

Take care
