Whatever. I just wonder why, if you hate the topic, you waste your time on it. Do what you like, it doesn't effect me.

lillith, to be completely honest with you , the reason i'm following this thread so closely is because i'm astounded that all of you , on this particular thread are so anti-mothers and anti-motherhood.

i just can't fathom it out<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

i was 22 when i had Adam and i just adored being a mum to him ( and now joe too!!) as a mum i would do anything to protect or help my kids . every mum i know is the same. i don't feel that i am a crap mum and i just cannot believe that most (70%)of parents or mums are next to useless. to be frank i SHOULD stop reading this thread 'cos it certainly is depressing me!!!!!!

I'm not anti-mothers. I'm anti-crappy useless mothers. It may not be as high as 70%, but I've certainly seen more than I'd like to.

I'm with Emily. I'm not anti-motherhood, either. I'm just anti-dumb@$$-useless mothers (and fathers) that should not have been given the gift of a child because they treat their kids like sh*t. And perhaps I think it's 70% because that's the percentage of parents of the people I know that are worthless, unsupportive, and abusive to their kids. Maybe its just where I live, but I doubt that... I've seen and heard too many horror stories to believe that everyone in the world deserves/is prepared to be a parent. It has nothing to do with being a "nazi", and everything to do with the welfare of the kids that will ultimately pay the price.

I think it all depends on where you are in life, and maybe even where you are geographically as it pertains to your view on the whole parental licensing debate. Let me explain, my Mom was a nurse at Childrens Hospital in Detroit. She worked with burn patients and surgical patients. She has seen some of the worst of the worst abuse cases...things that are unimagineable. Things that have made me cry just hearing about them. Sad to say, this seems to be more common in the inner city. I did not grow up in Detroit, but in a small waterfront community about an hour away. I now live in an even smaller community (surrounded by 100 acres of farm land kind of small) and I can honestly say without a doubt that I do not know any bad parents. I know a lot of parents because I am involved in my sons school quite extensively. I am a room Mother so I am with these kids all the time. So the point i'm trying to make is that because the parents that I know and socialize with aren't the ones who are neglectful and abusive, I see 70% of parents as being good, hard-working parents who love and cherish their kids. This whole debate centers on your perception and therefore your opinion. That is what is great about this country and this forum...everyone is respectfully entitled to their own opinion and you own your opinion and it doesn't make it any less valid than anyone elses. Thanks for your time and have a wonderful day!

I do agree that it depends on location. I am trying to wrap my brain around the millions of parents & the idea that as much as 70% of them are crappy parents. I dont know if its so or not, but it does seem high. If you work with the number of people in a certain area (like inner city etc) then I think statistically it will be higher. Just like crime & drugs which are probably all intertwined. At the same time depending on what you refer to as crapping parenting, it doesnt have to be the poor & drug ridden areas. Paris Hilton is a poster child for that.......
