I am a 27 y.o w/ CF and me and my fiancee have been trying to conceive for the past 3- 4 years with no luck. I am beginning to wonder if I should try any alternatives r should I try talking to an OBGYN first?

I am 38 and have CF.. Diagnosed at 3 years old. Was always really sick as a child told I could never have kids...told I wouldn't live to see 12, then 16, 18,21,25,etc. Had a baby naturally conceived at 34, had baby at 35. My advice...don't stress about getting pregnant or it won't happen. Make sure your nutrition is good and lung function is at least 70%. Drink lots of water all the time. That will help. It helps if you have normal periods. If you are working hard and stressing out about work you probably won't get pregnant just stay healthy and drink the water and don't worry about it. If it is meant to be it will happen. I won't lie to you and tell you it is easy to be a mom with CF. It is not you will need a support system in a big way. My child is very healthy and quite the little guy a true blessing. Another CF friend, 30 years is 6 months pregnant and doing well. Lost one friend 6 months after she had her baby but her lung function was under 70% when she got pregnant. Feel free to email me back

Hi, i am soo happy for you. I am hoping you can tell me as much as you can about your friend that didn't make it after she had a baby. I am going to be 31 next month and won't be married for another year. my lung function is in the 60's and I am so nervous about carrying the baby myself, but adoption is too expensive. How often was she hospitalized and what was her experience like during her pregnancy. I am only 5ft and 95lbs. I am nervous about have trouble with breathing since I don't have much room to carry. If you have any insight to help me decide what the best option is for me, I would be so greatful. i just keep reading about the good turnouts and I feel like I am getting false hope that I will be okay. Thank you, Jen

I was dx at 3 days old. My husband is hawaiian so we never thought he would be a carrier, but when we decided to start trying we did a cf screen on him to be sure. His test came back that he has a very rare almost unheard of cf gene. We then decided to do IVF and PGD. During our cycle all of our dr's came to the conclusion that my husbands gene was most likely not disease causing. We got pregnant on our first IVF cycle-our beautiful son is now 18 months. I had a dream pregnancy-didn't even care that I had nausea from 5 weeks til the day I gave birth. Had gest diabetes but was diet controlled. Delivered @ 38 1/2 weeks. Over the last 18 months we have done more extensive testing on both my husband and son-my son does not have cf. My husbands gene is not disease causing. We are doing an IUI this month since conceiving naturally hasn't been working due to thick cervical mucous.

I tried for a total of 4 years with out using conterceptions and no luck. Last march my husband and I started doing IUI's on our third one we got pregnant. The first 2 cycles were natural and the 3rd cycle I did 50mg of clomid. My eggs were great naturally but a little clomid never hurt so he put me on it. It gave me 3 good eggs and we got pregnant on that cycle. Nicolas was born Jan 28th, 2010 <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am 22 with CF, lunch functions 85% and PFT always above 100%. My husband and I conceived our son, now 2, naturally our first month trying. We are now trying for number 2 and have been for about 5 months with no luck. I am going to try Robitussin to thin cervical mucus, also drink a lot of water. I had no problems with my CF during my pregnancy, no morning sickness or anything. Only problem was a very achy back the last few months. My PFT'S were actually higher post-pregnancy. Good luck to all those trying!
