Thanks LisaV, I saw that website, but it doesn't really give me the details I am looking for. I really am interested in what the people who receive the service think. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I just don't trust vague statements made by government or insurance companies! Been burned one too many times.

So far, GHPP has not covered the co-pays imposed on me by my primary insurance (through employer). But GHPP HAS paid for my supplements (Boost +), which any other insurance would deny, and GHPP has paid for me to see a therapist - trick with that is finding a therapist who takes GHPP, lol. I've never been denied anything, just as Sally says. On K's application paperwork, there was mention of dental so now I'm thinking they cover dental as well??!

Sally is also correct about the enrollment fee - I don't know exactly what their scale looks like, but I worked last year (so have income) and still have no enrollment fee this year. So far, it's looking like they approve people right away (as far as getting ON the program, I mean). K has already received a response (like within a little over a week of mailing in the app.) and all they wanted was a copy of his CA license (to prove residency).

Bottom line: some things take forever, but nothing has ever been denied (at least in my experience) <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My experience has been fine with them. They've been my primary insurance for about 14 years and things have always worked out. If you throw in a new primary that would move GHPP to your secondary (no way around that) and you would have to operate through your new primary and GHPP basically just picks up the slack (but yes, you would have to pay the primary's annual deductible and copays).

With GHPP as your primary, they cover everything, from clinic visits to 100% of hospital stays and all meds, vest etc. They're not a perfectly smooth gold nugget - as they definitely have problems with their process that you have to spend time on and deal with, but overall I'm very glad I have them and that they're available to CFers!!!!!

I don't plan on moving outside of CA because of GHPP. It's a great place to be 'stuck' though! This is an awesome state with tons to do and see and lots of variety.
