myrtle beach = over run with drunk highschoolers.</end quote>

Sounds fabulous

Actually we were thinking of that area, but seeing as we're all high school teachers, we might want to avoid that celebration. But we'll be going in mid June- it might be later than than graduation parties. Thanks for the heads up!

Cape Cod? Martha's Vineyard? Place with a spa?</end quote>

Not necessarily that far north. We live right by the Cape so its a little too close to home for a wild weekend. No appeal, partying with our students.

North Myrtle is smaller than myrtle beach but still has a lot of the same stuff....that might be the better choice of the two

as for the highschoolers....there are tons of people of all ages there all summer and the main concentration of them (which you could avoid by doing more "adult" things and staying in nicer hotels) is late nights on Ocean Blvd. which is the main drag right next to the beach and everyone cruises up and down all night, but with so many people its more like they sit in traffic all night hahaha! anyway, it's kind of fun to do it just once or twice but there are definitely ways to do myrtle wihtout being overrun by highschoolers so don't write it off totally!

oh and there are about 400 (it seems like that anyway) putt-putt places all along the beach so NO WORRIES you will be able to get in a few rounds of mini golf

I was thinking of Duck, or the Outer Banks...great shopping there! There are a TON of cottages oceanfront for rent! www.outerbanksrentals.com Manteo & Rodanthe are about 30 min.-1 hr. away. They are good vacay spots too. So is Ocracoke Island...which is only accessed by ferry.

Its great you can get away...let us know where you go!
