Going onto enzymes

Hey Debbie,

Thanks for the input. I originally posted this back in January, now my daughter is actually pancreatic insufficient (or heading that way, her scores are just above the cutoff point). I have read some articles that indicate that pancreatitis is not an uncommon finding in those that are pancreatic sufficient.

Here's a link <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.dcmsonline.org/jax-medicine/2002journals/junejuly2002/pancreatic.htm">to on abstract</a>

Our Cf doc felt that being on enzymes couldn't hurt and might actually help with gaining weight and preventing pancreatitis.

crap.
I only recently found out about the increased risk of osteoporosis (sp?), diabetes and now this?
the upside is that CFers are living longer.
the longer they live the more that can go wrong.

what a world, eh?

I am trying to get onto this forum, and be able to visit with other people who are going thru what my daughter, granddaughter and myself are going thru. we have so many questions. First, my granddaughter Ella has CF, her mutations are the delta 508, and 2184del. Can anyone tell me anything about these, as far as mild or severe? She has been on enzymes since she was first able to take any breast milk, her weight gain has been good, but her sputum culture grew out staph her 1st month, she is now 5 months old and her culture came back as a MRSA staph. Is there anyone out there with this experiance. How do we keep her from getting these infections, besides the usual, hand washing, clean environment, and keeping her away from people.. This grandma is getting overwhelmed, and I know her mother, who is a single mom, is getting overwhelmed. Someone please answer me, my e-mail is bmalm@atcjet.net maybe I am not using this forum correctly. thank you for your time.
