Thank you jfarel for your opinion. I totally respect your views. I just hate being attacked for mine from others. There is a way to do it tastefully and distastefully.

A stem cell is a stem cell, all the word stem cell means is, it is a cell that has not been 'assigned a particular spot" in the body yet... It is undifferentiated.. Meaning you can pretty much manipulate it to do what ever you want, at least that is the theory anyway.

For instance, if you were trying to use it to replace a certain default cell, you use DNA from the cell that you want it to be like and inject it into the stem cell.

SOrry it has been a few years since Micro class, but that is pretty much the gist of it.

I personally, not that it matters am not for embyonic stem cell research, I personally believe life starts at conception, but who cares what I believe...

There are many ways to do stem cell research, actually some of the long bones in the adult body have stem cells in them.

Cloning is something that is done with stem cells, but not in and of itself the same thing.....

That is my weak rememberance of Stem Cells, and I am kicking myself because I am not clear on all the details like I used to be, I am going to look back in my micro book now because I am curious..

Hey guy's,

It was me who posted the topic, i have had log in problems with my computer and was unable to log in.

I respect everyone's views, and am curiouse in hearing them. But, please don't jump on people's back like Jeniffer, over her thoughts on the topic. I mean what is this forum.

We are all entitled to our opinion, and i am aware that they will vary widley.

Anyway i too agree with Allie, and from what i am aware the scienists that will be doing the research are only allowed to keep the stem cells for (two days) and then have to discard them.

I t has been said that there is a great deal of hope using this method, for treating/curing many illneses and not just CF.

PS: they did not state EMBRYONIC stem cells, so it may mean a combination of stem cell research including ADULT stem cell research.

They just stated that the govn't has overturned the ban on stem cell research, altogether.

Hope everyone is well.

For those of you who haven't read Steve's blog, on stem cells.

Please do, he has explained it very well. I found his insight very interesting and thank him for posting it.
