missT, Mark is my ex husband, he's 29. His doctor wants to rx it because of his signifigant weight loss and muscle mass. There are a combination of other reasons as well, but Mark would be better at explaining all of that. I do know I've *heard* that there are GH studies going on with CF patients, but I haven't been able to find much information.

interesting as my doc just last week at clinic wants to put me on an anabolic steroid for severe weight loss and muscle loss. is that the same as a growth hormone? i assume so?

either way, i haven't tried to fill it yet, but when i do, i will let you know what my private insurance does and whether they cover it.

Wow, I have to say I'm kinda jealous. I've been trying to get my CF team to put me on this stuff for a little over a year now and they just laugh it off :/

This is what I just don't get about CF care right now. CF is, among other things, a "wasting disease". The wasting symptoms seen in CF patients are almost identical to those of AIDS/HIV Patients. AIDS patients recieve anabolic steroid's without question... I think we need to push for more research on this with CF patients.
