Hand Sanitizer

I've always been told that washing hands with soap and warm water is the most effective way to kill germs.
But, if hand washing isn't an option, then use the hand gel.
I think a lot of people believe that the gel can take the place of washing hands. That's not the case.

I thought it took the place of washing hands. I carry it with me all the time, because I get so tired of washing my hands. I usually wash my hands after the bathroom or when I am cooking but that is it. Otherwise I just use hand sanitizer with aloe. I guess I'll have to go back to washing my hands more often. bummer.

I have heard that there are alot of germs that us, CFers grow that handsanitizer doesn't kill. It's still always good to use it but be aware that there are several that it doesn't kill. I know for a fact that Psuedo is one that isn't killed with the santizers. Psuedo can survive in freezing cold and it doesn't die like other germs. This is something that you might want to know what other risks there are. It scares me that some germs are killed with something that you would think should.

Yeah, it's kind of disturbing now how most hospital employees use hand sanitizer as a substitute for handwashing. Sure, it's a great thing to use periodically during the day, and in addition to handwashing, but it's not a replacement. I've read studies where cepacia was able to survive *in* betadine - I don't really think a few drops of purell is going to kill it.

Keep up the handwashing!!
