Handicap Parking Anyone?

I was just wondering if any of you have obtained handicap parking stickers and how sick were you when you recieved them.

My lung function is down to 42% and I do have some trouble walking. This has not been a concern to me until now--my son is starting kindergarten and I do not know if I will be able to walk him in every morning without getting in coughing fits especially when the mornings become cold. I know if I could park up front though there would be less problems.

I think people will probably look at me like that girl is not handicapped but the coughing fits and shortness of breath do make me feel handicapped at times. Anyway please let me know what you all think.

And I can sympathize with your worry of being stared at and what not, but the benefits of parking close and avoiding shortness of breath, etc outweigh any negatives. Also be prepared and have your license ready; I've had multiple police officers ask me to verify that I am the actual owner of the placard -- so frustrating.

I got one for Nathan when he was just a baby and it is permanent. We got it because he was on O2 for about the first 6 months of his life and I had an 18 month old, and a 3 year old. Can't believe I even attempted shopping with all that but I did. Now we use it if the weather is really bad for him, extreme temperatures, and if we go to a sporting event at a stadium. Since in Colorado the one they gave him is permanent, we keep it handy, which it has been many times, especially if he is on O2, which only happens occassionally. Really, it sounds like you deserve one more than he does.

I got one in like 2004 or so and my lung function was better than yours is at this current moment. It was not hard to get and mine expires in 2010. I still have it and use it even though I had the transplants....not as often as I used to though. I mainly use it when it is either really hot or really cold and I have my son with me.
