Haven't been on in awhile, thought I would update

It's been awhile so I figured I should give an update. Our 7 month old was in the hospital last month for 5 days to have an NG-tube put in because he had failure to thrive and couldn't seem to get enough calories in. He is gaining weight now and we have found that the only way he seems to get enough is through his tube especially at night so now at the end of this month he will be going into the hospital again to have a G-tube with mic key button put in. We felt this would be the best option as it seems he will need a feeding tube of some sort for awhile.

I'm so sorry to hear that he's struggling so hard to gain weight. My daughter has a g-tube. It was a tough decision, but it has helped her gain enormously. I hope it all goes well. (((HUGS)))

Our son has had his g tube for a year and a half and it really has made a huge difference for him. Once you get the Mickey in, it is a lot easier to take care of, too. And they are simple to change when you need to and hardly noticeable under their clothes.
I know we almost felt like it was a failure on our part when Luke had to have his g tube. But so, so many CFer's have to have one at some point and it actually became a relief--especially on the days when he does not want to eat anything but cheese puffs and popsicles!

I am so glad your little guy is going well. I am curious, how little was he and how much was he gaining? My son is about the same age and is tiny too. At what point did your Drs/CF center recommend the G tube and what had you tried as far as weight gain for him?
Also (sorry for the thousand questions) did you have a fecal elastase / stool test - and do you know hie values? I think that makes a difference too in their ability to gain weight.

I am trying to be prepared for everything we might face in the near future. Thank you.
