Hi Tanya,

Thank's for sharing your story. I to would do the same as you, if i were to find out i was pregnant i will just except whatever comes my way and be happy regardless. But because we are planning to have another baby we figure why not do the IVF and prevent having another child with CF.

When our baby was diagnosed, we were so stressed out and thought it was the end of the world. But when we found out about the treatments and more info about CF, it made us feel a little more comfortable. Although still uncertain of what her future holds.
That is mostly my worries. Therefore that is my main reason of wanting to take the path of IVF, and be sure that things will be fine(i hope).

Also the fact that you have two chidren with CF, have you had any problems with cross infection between your children.

Regards

Late on this....

I have 7 kids. 2 adopted, 5 bio. 1 bio kid has a different dad than the other 4.

Out of those 3 have CF. Funny enough one of those is my oldest who is a half sister to the others. My CF kids are 16,11 and 4 months. The 11 year old was diagnosed at 6 and then all of our kids were tested and the 16 year old was diagnosed ar 12. We weren't going to have more bio kids so we adopted twins. A few months later I found out I was pregnant. Delaney was born healthy and fullterm, NO CF! A few years later found out I was pregnant again...Kaden was born at 30wks with CF and Bilary Atresia

Delaney was a pill baby and Kaden was an IUD baby

I wouldn't give up my daughter for anything. Our first two children did not have cf and our third did. I am thankful for all three of our children. They have each added so much to my life. We had already decided that we were not going to have anymore children before Abby was diagnosed at the age of 11. My brother-in-law and his wife have two children both with cf. One just never knows.

I was already pregnant with my second baby when my first was dx w/cf. So, unfortunately both do have cf. And news of the second was equally as difficult as news of the first. My husband and I originally wanted three children, but I was so scared to try a third time after it happened to us twice. And after about 4 years, I decided I wanted to try again. But after going to the doctor to make sure everything was good to go for us to try, I was told I had cancer and had to go through a radical hysterectomy and that I could no longer even consider it. I guess it wasn't meant to be. My only regret now is waiting too long to make up my mind. I would had loved another baby, and so would had my two daughters that I have. I am blessed anyway I look at it.

Hi, Two years ago I was in the same position as you. I had one child with CF and another child w/o Cf, that I had already had before my oldest was diagnosed. My husband and I wanted another child, so we decided we would try for a third child. During the pregnancy I had an amnio but was going to have the baby whether or not it had CF. Well, we were lucky that the baby did not have CF, but we would have loved her just as much if she did. It is a very difficult decison to make, and because the pregnancy was so stressful, I would not be able to go through that again. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I am Adopted and i was born to my knowledge healthly.  You can
have test run on the expecting mother if she is willing that way
you know of any genetic disorders.  My husband has cf
and i am a carrier.  This is making to difficult on me,
I want badly to have our own children.  But if the
doctors can't tell me for sure though pgd then we will most likely
adopt,  If you have any questions on adoption let me know<br>
