Headaches connected to sinus problems?

I had sinus surgery almost 1 year ago--not only did it help my headaches, but it helped a myriad of other CF symptoms: sore throat, coughing, etc. Colds are much less severe for me now as well. I was able to go home the same day. I recommend it 150%!

It might be something else, Do you get them first thing in morning? if you do, it's a CO2 building up when you sleep. You would need to get a ABG done. If you are on O2 makesure you sleep with it on or you might need a cpat machine

Ah yes! The ole' CF Sinus issues. I've had around 20 sinus surgeries (lost track). Everything from polyps to having "windows" put in to having bone removed to make the opening to the frontal sinuses bigger. I do daily sinus rinses. This will help. I do 2-3 per day. If my infection is real bad I will even bump that up. With bad infections come the headaches. The only thing that works is getting the frontal sinuses cleaned out. I go into my ENT once a week for this. Between the weekly visits to him and the daily rinses I can be pretty headache free. If I do get them they are not as severe as they once were. In short, it's all about maintenance and keeping the frontal sinus clean and clear. If you have polyps I would get them removed. I've been having sinus problems since I was about 11. I'm 50 now and this is the best my sinuses have been. Yea, it can be a lot of work but it beats being in pain all the time.
Hope you get things working better for you.

I am another late diagnosed CF'r. I was 54 when they finally figured out what was wrong. I had polyps removed, sinus irrigations, surgery, over 25 times. Over 20 years ago in Switzerland they did some radical sinus microscopic surgery. Now when I go for a CT scan they always stop and ask me if I have had surgery - because my sinuses are so radically different. That relieved most of my daily headaches. Now they only come when I get sick. The sinus surgery is not that bad and you really get a lot of relief. Get an EENT referral from your CF Dr. I educated my last EENT about CF & the last time I saw him he said he had diagnosed and confirmed another case of Polyps & sinus infections as CF. <br>

I'm about to have my 6th sinus surgery. When my sinuses get bad, I get massive headaches. Lately, I've been getting a lot of polypoid tissue, which I never had much of before.

I have taken the excellent advice and have made an appt with an ENT. I have asked to be scoped in the first appointment so he can see what is going on first thing. We'll see what he knows about CF next Wednesday. Maybe he can clean me out over Christmas break. I am a teacher and miss enough days as it is!

I saw the ENT today. I had a fever and pain in my face so it was good timing. He put me on antibiotics for 21 days and wants a CT scan when I am finished. I have had a headache for most of the last 3 weeks. Maybe the antibiotics will help. Now we wait...
