I ALWAYS use a heating pad when my PICCS hurt. Of course, look out for swelling and redness because that can mean infection... but if everything looks fine and it just hurts A LOT, take the vicodin (which I have done too) and get yourself a good heating pad - they sell them at any drugstore. I remember once my PICC hurt only with flushes and infusions, but everything looked fine on the x-ray... and then another time the pain was just SOOO BAD all the time. It could just be your body not liking a foreign object in it.

Hope you find some relief soon... good luck!!

Sorry to hear you're having "PICC Problems"! Sounds like some good possible suggestions, hope they work (Sorry, I've never had a PICC or PORT in my life, so I can't help there!)

Use a heating pad on it. That's what I did while I was in hospital last time. My picc hurt most of the time I was in, though placement was fine, and I had mild bruising. Heat's the trick. I hope it feels better soon!

I haven't had a PICC placed, I've only had midlines but I have gotten the same problem. When I had spoken to my nurse she said it may have been placed on a nerve. I absolutely got a prescription for pain meds, they gave me Percocet. My nurse had told me that as long as the insertion site looks fine and the placement appears okay then it is most likely sitting on a nerve and there's essentially nothing they can do about it except tell you to get some pain meds! So I guess as long as it's not getting worse or debilitating to you, then you may as well stick with the Vicodin!! And don't let them tell you no! I hope even though mine was a midline, I am a little bit helpful. Good luck!!!
