i am 19 and i have had cf all my life..well 18 months ago i got with my g.f chelsea and its been the greatest thing in my life..she knew i had cf when we started dating..well shes been there for me through about 4-5 hospitolizations..i never thought anyone would care about me the way she did/does. she wasnt only there for me she stuck by my side in that hospitol bed the whole time..even through her xmas break from school..to make it harder on her she has a 3yr old daughter who was burned severly and needs attention too...so not all her focus can or should be on me...but the best thing a person can do with a b/f g/f with cf is stick by there side..dont try to let them get down if the illness is effecting him bad talk to him try to get him to go into the hospitol if he can...or just simply stay by his side...ive never ever had anyone care for me the way she does...i was blessed with someone like her...and im gratefull

I'm also new to this forum. My boyfriend of almost three years has CF, as well. I know how you're feeling. My boyfriend used to get very down, especially when he'd go through his rough patches. He also didn't like to talk about it very much. But things have gotten so much better. He has the most amazing outlook on life now. Things will get better. There may not be much you can do to speed that along, but just being there for him helps alot. I also feel like this has been a good place to talk to others with similar situations as me.

We get so much sympathy all the time somtimes we jsut want to talk about other things. there is nothing that we can do so we would ranter not talk about things that we have no control over. And somtimes we just want to be alone so dont be affended if he gets upset if you try to talk to him. And being sick does cause you to have a stressful life.

partly thanks to some of the advise I heard on here things have been getting alot better.
I realized I cant try to solve his problems because thats out of my power.
I just have to support him.

Its nice too because his brother, also with cf, just got home from college and they are great support for each other.
