Help Please: 50 psi recommendations

We have a mobilaire, which I found online and paid out of pocket about $220.

You can adjust the psi as per the drug mfg recommendations -- faster for pulmozyme to get smaller particles, shorter treatments. Reduce for tobi -- I believe the rec is 26 psi (can't remember); however, if you increase the psi for any drug too much or when the med runs out of the cup, the hoses pop off and sometimes startle the heck out of me. It's a much sturdier machine, lasts longer. One con is finding replacement filters. There's a charcoal filter you're suppose to rinse out along with a felt one you aren't

Not very portable, I know some people travel with theirs, but we use a spare pari vios or Philips inspiration as they're smaller.

I believe Devilbiss makes one as well. Not sure on sound though. looked like a beast. Pari probably makes one as well for hospital use. Have you done an online search of 50 psi nebulizers?

I haven't...great idea! but of course love my residence experts take. I know i've seen another mentioned and was hoping to have some real life comparators.

We have the Mobilaire. I just replaced one we had for the last 4 years. It is loud but so efficient. I was on the phone for an hour the other day with our insurance co trying to get them to cover the new Mobilaire...it was quite a circular conversation. anyway never got resolved. I will have to have our doc write a cover letter with some diagnosis code and some other code for it to be covered. I was cool as a cucumber. The woman on the phone was just doing her job. But i did tell her that this was the exact reason I paid for the last one out of pocket(it was too much aggravation) for $270... This time I am going to keep trying; just on principal.

do you have the new one already? Are you able to submit for reimbursement? The biggest difficulty o had was finding a supplier who would get a mobilaire!

Yes, We have the new one. Filled out a claims reimbursement form; I've have spoken to a total of 3 reps now they are waiting on codes from the doc. We are seeing the doc 2 morrow...Just silly; her meds are thousand of dollars but they fight over a $270 machine? It's the principal...

can I ask a stupid question? Does it smell differently like more oil from the engine or something?

Vitalitymedical.com. I did not notice any smell. when our old one burned out there was an electrical smell; like burned rubber.

Thanks Ratatosk and Rebjane! I ended up ordering the Invacare Mobileaire again (from Vitality) and great deal and omg, I had forgotten how quickly nebs can go. Our old one broke about a year ago, the new one from Invacare smelled like oil ....heavy heavy oil and I tried airing out forever, but to no avail. (And then too late to get it replaced by med supplier). The new one doesn't have the odor (other than a new machine smell) and it works sooooo great! Thanks for quick and helpful input.

I was supplied with a Precision Medical Easy Air. Psi is also adjustable. Has two filters both of which are only rinsed once a week. I was told that it is built for those who need a compressor 24/7. No problems so far. It was covered by insurance after doc wrote a letter explaining how many Pari Vios' we went thru and how long it took to nebulizer using them. It's a bit loud but not awful. Not as loud as the vest!
