I took cipro at 500 mg BID for 10 days with cephalex (sp) too about a month ago. It is generally better to have IV meds while breastfeeding, actually, because most of those meds aren;t orally digested, so the babe won't get anything - or very very little. I think it will be fine to keep nursing - and as Carlone said: probiotics and as Christian said: don't listen to the docs about meds, call an LC. Sadly, the docs are usually pretty uninformed.

I hope you feel better!!! Start doing those treatments so that you are healthy enough to keep nursing that little babe (and of course so YOU are healthy!)

I stopped breastfeeding for a few days and had to pump and dump when I had Redman's syndrome from the vanco after Amelia was born. It is something you should really try to avoid doing. You need to breastfeed to maintain your milk supply. Pumping and dumping is hard emotionally and creates extra work.

well i gave it alot of thought, i'm going to formula. i know breastmilk is so much better, but i have to look at my health too.

i'm by myself seven days so the thought of breathing treatments, iv meds, fixing bottles, and pumping is just more work than its worth. i think i did pretty good for keeping up with breastfeeding for two months.

i took morgan for her first shots today, so sad. she just cried when they stuck her.

yall are great don't know what i'd do without yall.

I am sorry to hear this. Why do you need to pump? I'm sure your docs can find meds that are breastfeeding safe - as I thought two of the ones you were on were (I'll have to reread). Remember, you're still going to have to be making bottles when you go to formala.

If there is anything I can do here in online world to help you or suppport you, I'd be happy to do what I could - even if it is just research other meds.

Anyway, I know you have to do what you feel is right for you and your health. (((HUGS)))
