My son is coughing so badly. This is a "sick" cough not the regular one. I dont kow who to call. Do I call the CF doctor or his peditrician? I am so confused. I took him to the ped last week and he said he sounded clear but now we are stuck with this. But is I call the CF doctor I feel as if I am bothering them. What do I do??

I only call the CF doctor if my kid's are coughing or having any cf issues. Almost always the pediatrician does not have the knowledge, experience and equipment to treat our kid's appropriately. For example, they do not have the access to cultures to decide which antibiotic to choose or pft machines. Don't think that you are bothering the CF doctor. That is there job.

Thank you. I just always feel as if I am calling them for one reason or another. The secretary is so sweet but when we get in with the doctor he is snippy with us. There has to be an easier way to decide what to do. We are new at this and just from listening to him I can hear the difference.

You need one who is addresses all of your concerns and appears to try their best to always keep your son 100% healthy. They are the key in keeping your son's lungs healthy. They need to be going up and beyond what he needs to stay healthy. I switched doctors at the clinic when my daughter was little mainly because my daughter's nurse was rude and wouldn't return my calls the same day. I also thought the doctor was not proactive in treating my daughter. I am very happy I switched. Now I have the sweetest nurse who is so helpful and never makes me feel bad for calling.
