well i dont really know because i never had an MRI ( it was never even suggested) ...... I have only had a cat scan before all three of my embolizations and one after to see that all enlarged blood vessels were fixed.

hmmmmmmm come to think of it the cat scan they took right before my last embolization was done with me on my stomach sort of propped up on my elbows because when i went to lay flat i started to bleedf and i told her i cant lay like that without bleeding so we tried it on my stomach a little propped up and it worked out well.

sorry i may have missed this in your post, but if your bleeding that much how come you've never had an embolization? It would seem like the logical step to me. (i only say this on hearsay since i've never had a major bleed, only streaked sputum.) A friend of mine recently had some major bleeds and two emoblisations in 6 weeks - after the last one they told him to stop lifting weights.

A CT Scan has a higher resolution than MRI, or X-ray. Though a CT has some radiation because it's still using X-radiation, it's less than what's used for an X-ray. Supposedly, they are coming out with a "Color" version of a CT Scan real soon. However, another new technology is Ultrasound, which can have an even higher resolution, but it's still in the making.
When I went through my first bleed, they also gave me medication that was to stop the bleeding, allowing the tissues in the lungs to heal a little...It seems with every bleed you have, your lungs haven't had the chance to heal from the first bleed.
Definitely take Diane's advice and get a CT Scan and find the source of the problem of the bleeding to stop it.
