It's been busy for me the first few days, couldn't respond sooner...

Highlights
- Found new job by the end of the year with a good company
- Became a fifth dan in Iaido, the highest of all the martial arts I've been involved with.
- Forced the MIL to eat her meals in her own room, instead of with us--significantly decreased the arguments and stress developed from the MIL!

Low points
- Unemployed for 7 months- nearly all year!
- Lung infection at the end of the year, causing weight fluxuation, and making it harder to work at the new company without any sick days accumulated yet!
- The MIL is still living with us!

Goals for Next Year
- Getting back into the 'swing' of the work force
- Taking, and hoping to pass, the level 2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test this time!
- Getting a real sword for Iaido--an unwritten 'must' for practitioners at 5th dan and above.
- Get my energy levels up, and keep taking care of my health.

My 2006 highlights were:

1) Finding a nice basement suite with cheap rent, free parking, utilities included and pets allowed and moving in with my then-fiance

2) Quitting school for good to become a full-time fashion designer

3) Getting married in May

4) Travelling to Mexico and touring around the ruins

5) Getting hired on as a fashion designer at a company

6) Finding this online community of fellow-Cfers

7) Gaining 15 pounds in 6 months and KEEPING IT ON

8) Only having 2 major infections requiring IVs, which I did at home both times.

My 2006 lowlights:

1) A complete lack of motivation fitness-wise (I'm in the WORST shape I've ever been in in my life right now!)

2) Quitting school (though it was to follow my dream, I do have regrets about it as I hardly ever get to do any piano or singing these days)

3) My pet guinea pig Nigel having a bad year health-wise with an eye-abscess, then pneumonia, and overgrown teeth, and now he's sick again!

4) Overall low PFTs and depression about my future outcome

Overall it's been a pretty good year though. This year's resolutions are:

1) Get in SHAPE again! I don't have to do triathlons anymore but I want to try to be able to run a 5k race...or at least friggin' WALK on the treadmill for an hour!

2) STOP WORRYING ABOUT HEMOPTYSIS. There's just no point.

3) Go out with friends more

4) Start a new hobby (I've signed up for a pottery class)

Good luck with your goals, everyone!
