I was just brainstorming and wondered if this thought had occurred to anyone else...

This may just be a stupid, late night thought, but I thought I would throw it out there anyways . The old Tobra that I mixed myself I remember as being room temp. I'm not saying that the temp of Tobi would be the whole problem, but maybe a contributing factor? Anyone let theirs warm up first?

Andee,

I like your late night thinking. It is this kind of thinking that makes my doctor connect the dots between causes and symptoms. BTW, because cold temperatures contrict airways, she recommends NOT drinking or eating anything cold. In restaurants, I always request a room temperature drink if possible -- they almost always have unrefrigerated beverages. I ask for water, no ice. And if it's very cold, I sometimes ask for a tea sized cup of boiled water and add it (I'm more careful when I'm not feeling well).

At home, I microwave all my beverages for 15 seconds before drinking. I have ice cream only when I'm in a good phase. I will even microwave cold food to take the chill off of it.

As far as Tobi causing shortness of breath, I like your theory, and I also suspect that Tobi is a very strong and irritating solution. Googling shows that side effects include coughing, chest tightness, and hoarseness.

It may be because the tobramyacin may be irritating or more likely the added chemicals which include sulfuric acid, a main ingrediant in battery acid. Now I wish I didn't look it up! LOL.

Andee......always thinking I kind of tried this today...I had to pick up my daughter and left the stuff out. It was probably room temp. by the time I got to it. I have noticed a bit of a difference today. It may be that I am just getting use to feeling like I am breathing through a straw No...it's not THAT BAD. Although I do sometimes wonder why they don't just write us a 30 day script for a box of straws. I seem to get the same results

I always warm my HS for 7 seconds in the microwave before i nebulise it and it makes it a lot easier to tolerate. I imagine therefore it would be the same with tobi.
