I have been contemplating asking this for a long time now. When i do my albuterol inhaler i have to inhale and then hold my breath for as long as i can. Sometimes i can hold it longer than others and have been able to almost guage how well my lungs are doing by how long i can hold my breath. I think the most i can hold it for is a little bit over 20 seconds ( no more than 25 seconds ever). How long can everyone here hold their breath?

I was told by my pulmonologist that you should hold for 8-10 seconds. That's what I do.

Oopps, I misread the original question, I thought you were just timing your beath holding after doing your med. In any case I agree with Liz, 10 seconds when doing your inhaler is all you need.

Wow - I can only hold my breath for 30 seconds, and that was hard. I thought I was gonna burst.

Can only hold mine for 11 seconds.

i've actually timed how long i can do it lately.... so far, my longest (recorded) time is 1 minute, 22 seconds...
