Hey everyone been a while since we were here, my son hasnt been sick in 1 year, he has mycrobacterium abscessus, PFT's were dropping some so we are currently on IV therapy, two meds for now, amikican IV and pramixin IV plus zyvox oral and zithromax oral, he seems to be doing ok this time, last time was not so good, did IV for twelve weeks, not sure how long this time, please keep us in your prayers as we continue to pray for each of you every nite. He is now nineteen he'll be twenty in march he really had a good year. I miss blogging on here but my work hours are crazy so I just decided to say hello and hope the new year will bring good health to us all.

My 15 year old son also has mycobacterium abscessus. He's being treated with tagycil IV and amikacin IV, but for 12-18 months. I see that your son was treated before for 12 weeks; was he initially treated for a longer period of time? We are trying to completely eradicate it, but are having no success after 6 months of IV therapy. Is this thought to be something that just flares up now and then? I'll pray for you guys!
