Horrible Joint/Bone Pain... Please Help!!!

So for the past month or so my joint/bone pain has been getting progressively worse and I really don't know what to do. I've had pretty bad pain off and on for about 4 years but this is something I've gotten used to, however it has gotten so much worse the past month. It hurts to even breath, especially in my ankles, knees and back. I can feel myself getting sick again which is only making it worse and I don't know what to do. My doctor has sort of taken this "just deal with it approach" which I think is BS. I take tyenol, but that doesn't do much any more.

Please please please any suggestions, I'm desperate!!!

My ligaments, tendons and joints have gotten better with killing off infection. So I have come to believe that a lot of joint problems are really due to infection. Some things that have helped me: Getting excess acidity under control, taking gelatin as a supplement, taking lots of calcium and magnesium, taking olive leaf extract, vitamin a and vitamin e. It's not a quick fix. I had to be consistent for a long time. But I did generally see immediate improvements and kept at it because it was working.

Good luck with this.

I have had CF related arthritis since the age of 9...I am now 35. When I was a young adult I started taking celebrex and it helped for a few years. Then I was on low doses of prednisone daily for many years which is why I started going to the rheumatologist. We all know that prednisone long term is not a very wise option. Over the last several years it has become terrible and affects my joints on a daily basis. The rheumatologist put me on methotrexate and I am doing much better. Have you talked to your CF doc about this? I would talk to him/her about it and the possibility of celebrex. If not, then I would recommend a rheumatologist-since it is their specialty.
Good luck to you...I know it hurts!

I too have the severe joint pain that you mentioned. I had knee pain since I was a child (maybe around 9 or so), and it has progressively gotten worse. The last couple years it has become almost intolerable. I am allergic to sulfa (and therefore celebrex and similar meds), and OTC pain meds don't do anything at all. Unfortunately, because of my severe GI issues, I just have to deal with it, as my doc doesn't want me on any serious pain meds because of my stomach. I wish I could offer more for help, but I don't have the answers either. Good luck, and ask your doc about celebrex. (my last doc actually tried it on me...before realizing that I am allergic, but it did actually help some aside from the reaction to it lol)
