Horseback riding and CF

Sorry couldn't resist<img src=""> I was talking to a friend of mine and she mentioned doing horseback riding lessons for our daughters, together to share the cost. My daughter would (I'm sure ) absolutely love the idea of learning to ride a horse. She has no allergies to animals that I know of. I'm thinking it would be good for a Cf'er to ride a horse, the bumping up and down. Just wondering more about the horse manure, hay and stuff, lung wise and picking up any bacteria. Thoughts on this. BTW, she has ridden a pony a few times at fairs, but just around a circle and back.

I never took lessons or anything, but I have been horseback riding a few times. I love it. It's fun. I'm not sure if she would need to toss hay around by hand, due to the dust that can come from it. I have brushed off a horse before, but he wasnt very dirty. If she does those things and you are worried about her breathing in something, she could always wear those mask that some ppl with allergies use while mowing grass. It doesnt seem like it but horseback riding is good exercise. It takes a good amount of muscle to control such a big animal. I would always try and do a treatment before riding so I would not go into a coughing fit. I was afraid it would scare the horse. Unfortunately, I dont have the opportunity to ride horses around here. I wish I did. Last time I went riding was during our honeymoon in 05. We were in the mountains in TN. It was great.

Yay! My husband used to ride horses a lot and was a horse wrangler for awhile. If your daughter wants to do it, I say go for it!
