We used applesauce for graycie too. She did great. We put a spoon full in a medicine cup so we didnt contaminate the rest of the container. It works for us even now. It was so funny watching my baby eat baby food at such a young age. She looked like a lil birdy. LOL

DS hated baby applesauce -- probably a texture issue, but he'd gag like he had a hair ball. So we used babyfood bananas for the most part, but sometimes pears, peaches, pineapple. And nowdays gerber baby food comes in a little container with a lid, after a few days if we hadn't finished it, we'd toss it. But the stage 1 containers are pretty small and if you're feeding her every 3-4 hours, you'll use up quite a bit.

I'm just kinda shocked/surprised that the dietician or nurse or doctor for that matter didn't suggest baby food fruit. When DS was diagnosed, the nurses in the NICU called down to the CF floor to get suggestions on best way to give him enzymes, PLUS the dietician printed off a whole bunch of literature from the CFF about giving enzymes to babies and toddlers. Are you going to an accreditted CF Center?

My daughter is almost 6 weks old, she's been getting enzymes since she was about 4 days old. At first I poured them into a little med cup and wet my pinkie with some milk, swiped a little inside her cheek, then stuck the bottle in and she'd swallow them down.

When we went to our first clinic visit, the nutritionist said I should try using applesauce if she'd do it, because its better to take them in acidic applesauce than milk. So now I put a tiny bit of applesauce in a med cup and the mix them with the beads. I just stick my pinkie in it and wipe them inside her cheek. Surprisingly, she seems to really like the applesauce. And its easier because we get it all done before she starts her bottle.

I buy the littlest jars of babyfood applesauce I can find, they can be opened in the frige for a few days. Also, I found shot glasses are great for mixing the applesauce with the enzymes, they are rounded and don't have sharp edges for the beads to get stuck in like the med cups do.

I say do whatever works best/easiest for you guys. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
