What the heck does TPN mean? I'm out of the loop!</end quote></div>

TPN=Total Parenteral Nutrition. They draw blood daily to check vitamin levels & other level.

Then a special "formula" is designed for you which consists of amino acids, dextrose, any vitamins, calcium, magnesium etc & even insulin for those with diabetes.

Unlike a g tube that puts a supplement directly into the stomach requiring it to be digested & making you feel full it goes through the picc line into the blood stream.

It is often used for cancer & HIV patients.

Cheyenne has to eat 5000 plus calories a day to maintain her weight. The doctor changed her Creon last month because she had lost weight, so hopefully that will help.

I'm not the typical cfer. I am old, doing relatively good and can hold my weight where they want it. With that being said, I do eat about 3700 calories a day to do it.
I wake up every morning to a little debbie and iced tea. I have found that if I have sugar first thing in the am I am hungry all day long. If I don't I could go until 2:00 or so before I even get hungry. Everyone is different. But, my doctor is happy with the 15 pounds I have gained in the last 2 years. Now, if I can just keep it there and not go any higher I will be happy/ I was told that they have tracked my weight and when I loose weight my lung function seems to go way down too, so here is to keeping the weight!Good Luck!
