I am having a hard time deciding what to do. I have don the walk in the past but for various reasons was unable to the past few years (i.e. my college graduation). We always do it at the same location, so I suppose thats not a great excuse as there are others we could have done...but w/e.

This year I am torn, my friend that passed away last year had cancer as a kid, and that was always her big thing, then my dad also had cancer (6 years cancer free this spring!!!) so that walk is in my town and is very dear to my heart. I am thinking that I will just make a donation myself to the cancer walk (as we dont have a whole team for my friend) and join someone else's team. Then I would still be able to donate and have my family walk for CF. The CF foundation still sends us information every year, we were very reliable and brought in a lot of money. It makes me so proud to go to those walks and know that I have helped and that in turn will help me and so many others. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

My mom teaches preschool and evey year they take the kids to the park for a field trip and do a mini CF walk-a-thon! It is sooooo frigging cute and the kids have a blast. They walk around the (mini) pond and each time get a sticker. Then they get to play on the playground.

my family and i have been participating for a many years. there were a few years when my sister chaired the event and the walk was great and we raised the most money when she was chair. well she is an employee of the american cancer society now, so she can't chair the event, something like conflict of interest. i think thats kinda of crazy.

with that being said my sister is a very organized person and she knows her stuff. well there is a new girl that is with the local chapter and the last two walks have been an embarrassment. nothing is organized and they are still setting up when people get there to register.

they always count on my family to help, get donations, blah, blah, blah. last year was our last year to actually help in any set up. i was so embarrassed last year. this year we told them we would help raise money and walk, but we weren't settingup for the walk or getting donations for that day.

it's makes things so crappy when there aren't good planners.

We are! This will be our 3rd walk. Last year, Zoe was in the hospital, so just myself and my other children went, Scott stayed in with Zoe. Hoping this year she will be home! I have an entire private school this year watching Zoe's montage and having contests against students to see who can raise the most money for our team!! I am so excited to see what they raise!

Here is the link to our home page if anyone is interested!
