How many times a day do you do CPT for your child?

We have always done CPT (now vest) three times a day. We up it to 4 times a day when he's sick. When DS has gotten a little cough or wheeze we've been told to "beat it out of him". There are some parents who do it 4 times a day on a regular basis. If you've got the time and the inclination, it's not going to hurt anything. When I was on maternity leave for 12 weeks, we did CPT 4 times a day and sometimes we did/do little mini-cpt sessions. He used to fall asleep during CPT, seemed to calm him. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

And just because he's sick, doesn't mean you should stop CPT. People wcf tend to have thicker, stickier mucus, so it's good to get that stuff up and out so it doesn't stagnate. I figure if the stuff that makes DS' nose all stuffed up is anything like what could be in his lungs, it's in our best interest to be agressive with CPT.

We do Trevor's CPT 2x a day and then 4x when sick. His doc has always said a little CPT will never hurt so anytime I feel it's needed, go ahead and do it! Sometimes he sounds like if he could just have one good cough it would clear it out especially after he eats. So sometimes I do it more than 2x a day.

Positive culture of PA is definitely a sign of cf lung involvement. So much so that it can be used as a diagnostic tool for cf. As others have said, healthy, non-cf lungs do not culture PA.
