How often do you get hemoptysis?

ya we've had many threads on here about the cause of hemoptysis, so I'd like to keep this thread focused on how much and how often instead.

Thank you guys so much for your replies!

And just so you know, I've been coughing up blood since I was about 12. I would cough up at least a tablespoon about 4-5 times a year. That went on for about 14 years or so before my big blow out before I had to get embolized.

They can do a quick contrast study to see if there are any spots/veins in your lung that look troublesome. But, I wouldn't worry too much about it if it stops after a little while and you're able to clear it.

I used to hemoptsis alot when I was a teen-ager, so bad so that I could fill cups, I don't know what they call it. When it happend and I remember everytime like it happen yesterday, it was when I was running to first base, or helping my mom clean or even when I was out on my dads boat the salt air caused me to cough alot and boom, blood again. The worse time was when I was in the hospital doing the study for pulmozyn(dnase) it caused me to cough so much I hemroged, its not as un-common as you think most of my Cf buddies do it on occasion, meaning most likly with a infection, the thing that helped me the most when it happened was drinking ice and i mean ICE cold water, always stoped it, in my own mind I believe its caused from having dry lungs and I never used to drink water ever, so I tried drinking water all the time and I hav'nt done it for 3 years now. sorry for rambling, just joined and needed to say all that I guess. i went for about 8 months with maybe 1 or 2 small cases where i coughed up blood (small amounts). when i was on tobramycin it was more often and it would be pure blood. however in the past 2 weeks i've had 2 bleeds (not big ones).
