How often do you go to clinic?

I went every 6 months as a child (I was on enzymes, but had no lung involvement, and my mom didn't want me around the other cf kids any more than I had to be), and now I go every 3 months. They do my O2 stats everytime.

Amber, Cheyenne has always gone to the clinic every month. The dr said she cant go less often until she is not sick for 2 months. I dont know when/if that will happen, since she cant go 2-3 weeks without getting sick.

Does everyone see a social worker, dietician and a nutritionist? We have never seen a social worker at the clinic, but we did in the hospital. We havent seen the nutritionist in over a year.

EVERY time we go to clinic, Kj has her lung function test, then she gets height and weight done, then she see's the physiotherapist, then we see the dietician, then we see the cf coordinator/social worker then the docs and sometimes we have some one who wants to do research on her.

Debbie, to answer your question, at both clinics we've gone to we first see the nurse/CF coordinator. She usually does weight/height/throat culture. Vinny is too young for PFTs still. Then we see the doctor. Sometimes she does the culture. We see the nutritionist every visit lately because they are keeping an eye on Vin's weight, they want him to gain a few pounds. Is your daughter having any issues with weight? If so the nutritionist should prob be seeing her more. They ask us if we need to see the social worker, or sometimes she pops in to say hi and see how we're doing. If you did need to talk to yours about something could you? We don't always see the respiratory tech either. She may pop in to see how we're doing, or if we ask to see her (like last time I wanted to ask about the vest).

Basically we could see every one every visit if we wanted to, but usually it's just the nurse, doctor, and nutritionist.

Am I the only one whose clinic doesn't do O2 stats every visit? Or ever? I asked and they said only when sick if the doctor feels it's needed. Even when he was sick though, and they admitted him, they still didn't check his stats (in the hospital they did, often, just not at clinic). If they have the machine, why not take the minute to check. I'll bug them about it again, maybe just because he's so young and his lungs generally sound great they don't think it's necessary.

When we go was always get Danny's 02 checked. We start off seeing the nurse who checks weight, height, blood pressure, and sats. She then takes us to our room. The CF nurse will come in shorty after and go over meds, general concers, and sometimes she will do the culture. Then its usually the doctor, dietician, and resp therapist. They will ask if we need to see the social worker, usually we don't, but like others have said, she is available and we could see her if we wanted to. Before we go home the nurse will come back in and see if we need anything else. All of this happens at every clinic visit.

The only time we have the o2 checked is when she is admitted into hospital. We never get it done at clinic or at the pedi.
