How often do you go to clinic

Hi Lilytree, and welcome. We are in Scotland and we have clinics also every 8 weeks, but we are very strict in cross contamination, we each have our own room and the various Drs come round the rooms....the kids certainly do not play with each other. Our boy (2 1/2) was the first in at clinic, but there is now a baby in before him, they also time the appointments depending on what you have colonizing the lungs. I must admit I was very suprised to hear what you said about your clinic, I thought that it was our way in the UK, and It has been for some years now.

I would be telling your clinic that you want it your way, stand your ground.

I have always gone to clinic every 3-4 months. I used to go every 4 months when I was in high school and college because it was convenient to go to clinic during my school vacations. Now I make a point to go every 3 months because I am no longer in school or anything like that. I do not see the need to go more frequently than that if your health is stable. If your health fluctuates a lot, then going more frequently would be good. I was alwasy under the impression that 3 months was the general rule for clnic visits. I guess that's not true!

When I was young I saw my doctor (no clinic at the time) every six months. If I got sick, I went in immediately and had more follow ups closer together.

Now that I'm an adult, I go to clinic every six months, but our clinic does not have the MD at "clinic". We have the rest of the "team" at "clinic". The RN, Dietician, respiratory therapist and social worker. The doctors see the patients at their office. I see my doctor (in addition to clinic) every 3 months when I'm well. I see them every week when I'm on IVs. I see them every day when I'm in the hospital. After I come off IVs I graduate to once a month visits, then two months etc. Eventually every 3 months. (I usually don't make it that far anymore.)

Our waiting room time is limited. I never see another CFer anymore. Our rooms are "sanitized" before we enter, whether or not the last patient was CF or not (my CF doctor is an allergist as well). And disinfected after we leave as well.
