I replace my hepa filter one a month no matter what in my vaccuum and i have another 2 filters on it that i change every 3 weeks to make sure things go in and not out into the air.
I vacuum my home daily and i carpet clean my house every 3 days. my house has carpet everywhere except the bathroom and kitchen.

We have all hardwood floors. We sweep them multiple times every day (they've been swept 3 times already today afaik). We only mop once per week, unless they are dirty and need it more frequently, and we don't use a vaccuum on the hardwoods at all.
But, our hardwoods are blonde bamboo. Trust me, if there's anything on the floor, you can see it and it will bug the snot out of you until you clean it up. Long before we brought M home, I had realized that carpets and kids do NOT agree with each other. So, when we bought this house the first thing we did was rip out the carpets and put in the hardwoods.
