How old were you "SUPPOSED" to be?

I was just curious to see, when you were diagnosed, did they tell you how old they 'predicted' you to be?
I was diagnosed at 10 and they said I'd live to be 18.
Well, well, well, I'm 29 now and going strong. I want to strangle the person who tried to tell me when to die. No one has that kind of power.
So have you surpassed when you were supposed to die?! If so, let us know.

Death should have occurred at age 14. I am also 29. <img src="i/expressions/wine.gif" border="0">

Ry was diagnosed at 2 months, they said likely ten, no way he'd live to 18. He lived to be 31. He was never really mad at being told when he was supposed to die, because that was what they knew at the time, and all his friends with CF when he was young DID die before or at age 18.

I think when I was diagnosed at least they also said 18 for me. My parents have always told me to go for my dreams tho and try to focus on the positive...like that fact that some people live further than that. I'm 22, almost 23 now...and I am very healthy (at least thats how I feel). I remember tho when I was younger watching that 'average age' grow to 31, 32, 34...and so on. I think that being positive is one of the keys to succes tho...we cant look at it that way, we need to fight for as long as we can.

When I was born, my parents were told I had a 50/50 of living past 18. I'm 23 now. I, like Allie said, wasn't mad that anyone told my parents or me that. It's what they knew at the time. *shrug*
