My daughter has 2 mutations that are being targeted by drugs in clinical trials (G551D -- VX770 and W1282X -- Ataluren). I am trying to be optimistic that these drugs will work well and there might be good treatments for her in the future. I was wondering how optimistic everyone is about these new drugs? Has anyone been in a clinical trial for VX770 or is anyone enrolling their child in the new trial?

I think I'm optimistic that the world of CF is changing with the introduction of these drugs. I am hopeful that the prognosis for our kids will be drastically improved. However, I'm not being blindly optimistic. I realize that medicines like this will be very costly, and will not change the day to day treatments since there will be no long terms studies to prove that these meds will continue to function for an entire lifetime.

I have to have hope. It's all that keeps me going some days. However, I'm not completely nieve(sp)...I'm on the same page as saveferris...I will believe it when I see it.
