I have never done this before and I am so confused as what to do after I have registered to be a team leader. How do I actually raise the money? I'm not sure how it all works...and what about this sponsor thing? I'm confused! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

First of all, take a deep breath and let it our slowly.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Its not so hard to get a team going, but don't try to doeverything at once. You just need to ask a lot of questions. There should be someone at your local CFF office who can help.

Our first year we just asked friends and co worker to contribute. Years after that we got more assertive. There's lots of ways to raise money- it juts depends on how creative you are (and how mush energy you have). People on the forum have such great ideas. Try doing a search for great Strides, I'm sure you'll find some good ones!

Good luck

just ask co-workers, friends and family to donate. at my office i do a jeans for genes day. one day we are allowed to wear jeans for five dollars. your local capter should also have pin-ups that you could put at your local banks or grocery stores. i sell them in my office for a dollar. penny wars is good too.

last year i did a letter writing campaign, but this year i didn't. i felt bad because i have had so much going on. baby showers, wedding showers i didn't want them to think they had to donate to cf too. there are many ways to get money. there should be some ideas on the cff.org website under great strides.

good luck <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I pretty much just do an email campaign and a letter writing campaign. I hate asking people (coworkers) in person for money. I log onto the great strides site and modify the generic email letter, add a photo of DS and send it out. The website also has form letters you can mail out to friends/family/coworkers and another one asking for sponsorships. It's in word format. I download it, add my personal info, a photo of us -- usually from the walk the year before or a photo of DS. Then I create a bunch of labels -- usually from my Xmas card list, add some friends, family members, etc. and mail it off about a month or so prior to the walk. Some people I know just send post cards.

Oh and on the site, when you log on, you can also email people to ask them to join your team. We have a few team members who aren't able to walk who still join the team and actively fundraise for us.
