I just got a vest how in the heck do you get on plane with it. If you check it what happens if it gets lost or damage who pays then? Can you carry it on board. I just got a respirtech incourage system directly from them.

You can just carry it on the plane as a carry on item. Medical equiptment does not count as part of your carry on alotment. It just barely fits in the overhead bin. We have traveled with ours several times

I would think that you could just check it at the gate as someone would a stroller or car seat for a child. They put a tag on it, put it on the plane, and then you get it back immediately when you get off the plane. It's like taking it as a carry on (although it doesn't count as a carry on) and you don't have to worry about where to put it (either under the seat or overhead).

Beware of the gate check with your vest!!! I had to gate check mine last year because the plane was so tiny. Well I get my bag head home, open the bag and holy crap I discover a 12 inch crack in the machine. Not good. It still works just fine but now I have to be extremely careful with it because any bad move could damage it.

I've been in touch with the airline but have had no luck at all getting a claim from them. Smartvest will replace it as long as I get a claim....one day I'll get it from them.

Anyway ALWAYS carry it on, no matter what.
