Every time I go to my appointments, my doctor brings up using hyper tonic saline-- she isn't pushy but just asks if I wanted to start using it. I always say that I feel that I dont need it at this point b/c I'm already on albuterol and pulmozyme once daily and TOBI every other month along with Flonase, clarinex d and zithromax m,w,f.
My reasoning is that my FEV1 is between 109%-117% as well as thinking that IF my lung function does decrease, that it would be good to have something to start using that I haven't before.
But is that just stupid reasoning? I mean it's probably better to stop the damage from even starting then to use it in a reactive situation, on the other hand- I don't want my body to become dependent on it or become used to it so that it looses it's efficacy, especially since I'm doing so well right now.
I also experiencing some irritation when using TOBI- i feel like it just rips my throat up and my voice breaks a lot when I use it. I'm afraid that the HTS will be too abrasive for me.
But I feel like I may be being stupid if I'm not using every weapon out there to keep myself healthy. I want to be able to say I fought my hardest and not regret that I could have done more...
Whats everyones thoughts opinions on this, and for those who use HTS- what are your experiences?
