humidifer use

Ok all I live in MI and when the heat is on its unbearably dry here in our house. I have always refused to use a humidifier because of the mold problems they can create. The last time I used one there were so many 'rules' about cleaning, having it 4 feet away from walls and curtains, having it up off the carpet etc. I was petrified of making myself worse just to avoid having nose bleeds.

I have done a bit of reading adn thinking and I also have lung bleeds and they are always once it has gotten really dry in our house. While I realize its not the only factor it may be one factor leading to them. Now that I have an IQ Air purifier that eliminates bacteria and mold I figured it could help offset the negative of the humidifier should it start causing a bit of a problem.

I did some humidifier research adn realized they have come a LONG way sicne I last used one and I was using the walmart specials back then LOL. Anyway what do you all use if any at all?

I love allergy buyers club I have had nothing but awesome experiences with them so far. All their prices are comprable to other sites but they have a fabulous return policy, I always get 10% off and there is someone online answering all my questions (no I dont work for them LOL). Just personal opinion, not personal experience! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I haven't looked into the various models which claim to sterilize water. Just seems too risky for me.

as mentioned above...regardless of the humidifier the bacteria resides in the still water itself. our doc has always said no humidifiers, the water isnt sterile like a neb treatment and cannot be made sterile because it sits for hours in the container. we are also dealing with the dry air irritating my daughters lungs and she has been doing some pretty forceful coughing due to mucus plug irritation. i would ask your doc about doing isotonic saline (same saline as body content) thru neb just for the extra moisture.
