Avery started it when she was two years old, she was the youngest in East Tennessee at the time to do so and has had nothing but success with it.

Our little one does HTS 7% half vial once a day. She seems to tolerate it well. We usually do it early in the morning when she's still sleepy, it does make her cough. I found out about the study and asked my doc about it and he said to go ahead and try it. He said it wasn't going to hurt her. We've been doing it about a month. She's about 9.5 months old.

Sarah - did your daughter's CF doctor say anything with regard to irritating her airways and/or concern because the passages were so small? Our Ellie's doctor hasn't given us a time when we "can" start HTS. Did your doctor say anything about an appropriate age?

I asked him about it when I first heard about it. He said we could go ahead and give it a try. I asked him was their any possible way it could hurt her or do any damage, he said no, but she may not tolerate it to well. I asked if we could try it, he said let's give it a shot. He didn't seem worried about her air passages being to small and I really think if it was going to hurt her he wouldn't have let us try it. our doc is pretty aggressive and proactive. We go back on Thurs. and we will discuss how she is doing with everything including HTS. She only does a small amount once a day but it is the 7%. She tolerates it well but we always do it when she's still sleeping or very sleepy. He didn't really mention if their was an appropriate age, but she was about 8 months. Granted if I didn't ask him about it, he probably would have waited to put her on it<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I hope this isn't to confusing.
