Need to VENT!

The last time we saw our CF doc was April 23. That is when we received the DX. (Keep in mind that back in December they told me my son was only a carrier. And 3 months later they called back and said "oops" we made a mistake.) At that point they sent home with us 4 testing kits and needed to order 3 more to have all of our 7 other children tested. CF nurse said she would ship the rest to me as soon as they came in.

2 days later we took the four in for thier blood draw. One week later Ambry finally recieved it. Ambry told me to wait at least 14 days for results but would probably be sooner. So after 3 weeks I called our clinic yesterday to get the results since I havent heard anything yet. She calls me back today and tells me she doesnt have the results because Ambry is waiting for clearence from our insurance company. Now the only way they can get clearence is our clinic MUST fax in a request due to one diagnosis already. Come to find out our clinic hasnt even done that!! So according to her she was doing that right after we spoke. Also the Ambry test kits were in the office the second week of May and she told me she was sending them out that week. Again, she hasnt done it. She told me this week she would get them out. Also, our clinic managed to send the referal for his Pulmozyme on the 6th but our insurance company lost the fax and needs a new one. We have only 2 weeks before his free 30 day dose runs out.

Can this really be happening????? I understand things take time but when our care center isnt doing their job it just makes me so frustrated. I managed to get the referals to our insurance all on my own today. Unbelievalbe.

Any thoughts??

I am wondering if we go to the same clinic?

I don't have much to say other than I am so sorry. No one takes it as seriously as the patients and family members. Sounds like my experience at Children's in dallas.

I am so sorry.

Oh Tina! It sounds like they REALLY dropped the ball. I'm sorry. I guess to them, it's just more paperwork that has to be done, and they take the "we will get to it when we get to it" attitude. To you, it is finding out if your children have this disease or not. I wish they could see it from your perspective. Also, when they've already messed up one test, how are you to have confidence in their care of your child/children?!

I hope they get their act together. It's not fair for you to have to check up on them constantly.

You have a beautiful family!

They totally dropped the ball and that is sooooo not okay. From now on you need to be kind, but be firm and not let three weeks go by. Call every third day if you must, to make sure they do what they said they would. Unfortunately, CF centeres often don't have a lot of competition. . . and there is the potential to prioritize and sounds like you hit the bottom of their list. But that is just NOT okay. I hope it was a mistake that will not happen again, but next time, I'd truly consider your options for other CF centers -- if you have one.
